HAW BRANCH A.M.E. CHURCH HISTORY

Haw Branch A.M.E. Church was started about one mile northwest of it's present site.  At one time there was a road or path located about 200 yards behind the present church.  One could go north on the path to where the original church stood.

The property on which the present church is located was purchased from Jonas Williams on the 13th day of July 1889.  H.H. Parker, Levi Parker, Nick Rhodes, and Alias Thompson signed for the church and the witnesses were D. A. Williams and Edward Parker.  The transaction is registered in deed book 19, page 349.  The property on which Haw Branch A.M.E. Church is located was purchased for three dollars ($3.00).

From 1889 to this present time, many changes have occurred.  The church is now a bricked structure with many accommodations.
